Position Specifications
Position Title: Part-Time Cafeteria Security Monitor
Reports To: Director of Security and assigned school administrators
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; previous security experience preferred.
Position Overview: Part-Time Cafeteria Security Monitors help maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful environment in the cafeteria and nearby common areas by supervising students, enforcing school expectations, and responding to safety concerns.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise students in the cafeteria and adjacent areas to maintain order, safety, and positive behavior.
Confidently manage large groups and use de-escalation skills to address conflicts or disruptions; intervene in physical altercations when necessary per district protocols.
Monitor cafeteria entrances and exits, report safety or facility concerns, and promptly notify administration of incidents.
Use basic technology tools (such as the digital hall pass system and email/forms) to track student movement and complete simple documentation.
Communicate expectations clearly to students and complete simple written reports or referrals as needed.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED (required).
Previous experience in a school environment and/or working with adolescents preferred; prior crisis management or security experience helpful.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, frequently move through crowded areas, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds; medical clearance required due to physical demands.
Strong communication skills, a calm demeanor under pressure, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of the school security team.
Schedule & Compensation
Hours: 3.5 hours max daily, Monday through Friday (only on days students are present and lunch is served: 10:00 am - 1:30 pm).
Pay: $15.50/hr.
