Job Title: Marketing & Communications Intern
FLSA Classification: Non- Exempt
Compensation: $20 per hour

Summary
The Marketing & Communications Intern will provide support for messaging, branding, and communications across all channels, including but not limited to the website, print, and social media. They will assist the Marketing & Communications Team with content creation, digital communications, outreach, and marketing tasks that help promote organizational programs, community engagement, and impact. This is an onsite, in-person internship position.
Length of Internship: 6-Months (with possibility to extend or transition to part-time or full-time role)
Time Commitment: Minimum of 20hrs per week and up to 32hrs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the creation, editing, scheduling, and posting of digital content for social media and other communication channels, including graphics, photos, videos, and promotional materials.
- Assist with uploading, formatting, and organizing content on the organization’s website to ensure information remains accurate and accessible.
- Under the guidance of the Marketing & Communications team, assist in the creation and design of educational and outreach materials, including handouts, recipes, flyers, and digital resources, while adhering to organizational brand standards.
- Help maintain and organize marketing assets, including photos, videos, templates, educational resources, and promotional materials for future use across programs and campaigns.
- Assist with community outreach activities and events by preparing materials, capturing photos and video content, and providing on-site support to help promote programs and services.
- Support the collection and development of stories, testimonials, and other content that highlight participant experiences, program successes, and organizational impact.
- Assist with tracking basic marketing metrics, social media engagement, website analytics, and community feedback to help inform communication efforts and measure impact.
- Collaborate with the Programs and Development teams on ongoing projects and provide general administrative and creative support as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the organization's mission.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Working towards a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or Digital Media (or a related field), and/or a minimum of two years of marketing, communications, content creation, or digital media experience. Additional experience may be considered in place of education.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including attention to detail, grammar, and professional communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive working relationships with staff, community members, and partners.
- Basic understanding of marketing, communications, public relations, and social media best practices.
- Familiarity with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Experience creating digital content, including graphics, photography, video, or written content for social media, websites, or other communication channels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Experience with Canva required; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and website content management systems
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Valid California driver's license.
