Function:  The Warehouse Production Lead supports daily food box assembly and sorting operations, including activities related to The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), and other Community Food Bank (CFB) initiatives. This role provides on-the-floor guidance for staff and volunteers, ensuring production activities meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards. The Production Lead monitors workflow, maintains compliance with food handling protocols, and ensures daily production goals are achieved.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates daily setup, operation, and breakdown of food box production and sorting lines.
  • Assigns and monitors staff and volunteer tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion of production goals.
  • Provides hands-on support and guidance during production shifts, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Trains volunteers and new staff on food safety protocols, equipment use, and production procedures.
  • Ensures boxes are packed accurately, consistently, and meet program-specific requirements.
  • Operates warehouse and production equipment (e.g., electric pallet jack, pallet jack, conveyors) in a safe and effective manner.
  • Upholds food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards in compliance with AIB, Feeding America, USDA, OSHA, and CFB policies.
  • Monitors and maintains adequate levels of supplies, PPE, and packing materials in production areas.
  • Records production counts, material usage, and volunteer participation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Identifies and reports safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, and workflow disruptions.
  • Supports traceability processes, including proper labeling and documentation practices.
  • Participates in daily cleaning and resetting of production workspaces.
  • Serves as a point of contact for production staff and volunteers during shifts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of production workflows, food handling standards, and inventory basics.
  • Ability to assign tasks, monitor performance, and adjust workflow in real time.
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation requirements, including PPE use and cleaning protocols.
  • Proficient in operating material handling and production equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to lead diverse teams and volunteers.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and meet established quality standards.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain food handling certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to become forklift and other warehouse power equipment certified within 60 days of employment,
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivator and takes initiative.
  • Life-long learner and ability to incorporate new information.
  • Demonstrated interest in learning internally and externally and incorporating new information into role.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse economic, social, and political backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in warehouse, production, or food distribution settings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, and aptitude to learn other software platforms.
  • For company insurance purposes, at least 21 years of age; possess a current Arizona Driver’s License with a safe driving record.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Arizona CDL “Class A” Driver License.
  • Three (3) year clean driving record and current DOT Medical Certification.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium Work – ability to exert 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
