ABOUT PARKWAY-ROCKWOOD COMMUNITY ED:
Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a partnership of the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts that provides high-quality programs that enhance the quality of life for residents.
POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the Community Ed team, the swim club lead group coach will provide leadership and supervision for assigned swim club group.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise day-to-day operations for the assigned group, including all staff and swimmers
- Develop, implement and evaluate seasonal plan for assigned group(s), including daily workouts
- Evaluate and set goals for individual swimmers in group(s)
- Attend and oversee all aspects of practice for assigned group(s)
- Attend team travel meets and supervise swimmers and coaches as needed
- Evaluate assigned assistant group coaches
- Determine and set meet schedule for assigned group
- Select and evaluate swimmers’ events for meets
- Supervise swimmers and coaches during team travel as needed
- Communicate with head coach and parents as needed
- Maintain assigned office hours and attend staff meetings as required
- Update group page on team website as needed and create group newsletter
- Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to access all locations in the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts
- Ability to bend, twist, lift and manipulate equipment, supplies and mail
- Ability to establish and execute priorities with minimum direction or instruction
- Ability to judge when situations and/or information should be called to the attention of supervisor
- Ability to train and lead assigned staff to effectively meet program needs
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as required
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Establish and maintain an effective system of communication with staff and swimmers of assigned group(s)
- Must work well as part of a team and individually
- Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- American Red Cross Coaches Safety Training, CPR and First Aid Certification required
- Minimum of one year coaching experience in an age group swim program
- ASCA Level 2 or above preferred
- Ability to hold and retain USA Coach’s Card
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Knowledge of Google Suite
- Knowledge of web-based Team Unify program preferred
- Knowledge of Hy-Tek program preferred
EQUIPMENT USED:
- General office equipment; pool equipment
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Within assigned pools indoors and outdoors within and outside Parkway and Rockwood School District locations, which may include during inclement weather
- While performing duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach
Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a self-funded department and is not funded through the district's general operating budget. All positions are contingent upon the ongoing financial viability of the Community Ed program.
