ABOUT COMMUNITY MEDIATION SERVICE CORPS: The Community Mediation Service Corps (CMSC) is a partnership between the New York State Dispute Resolution Association (NYSDRA) and Community Dispute Resolution Centers (CDRC) across the state of New York. The CMSC program provides as variety of conflict resolution services to youth and families in local communities and schools.
MEMBERS IN THE FAMILY CUSTODY VISITATION TRACK WILL:
The Family Services Specialist Volunteer supports family-focused mediation and court-connected services at CDRC. The Volunteer conducts intakes at Chemung County Family Court and the Elmira office, assists with participant preparation and case coordination, maintains case records, and supports data entry and file management. The Volunteer may assist with parenting plan cases and, after completing required training, co-mediate custody and visitation matters with experienced volunteer mediators or staff. Additional responsibilities include outreach, professional development, and activities that improve access to family mediation services and support positive outcomes for children and families.
