Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all fleet vehicles and equipment to prevent breakdowns and extend lifespan.
- Diagnose mechanical issues accurately using diagnostic tools and troubleshoot complex problems efficiently.
- Repair or replace faulty parts, including engines, brakes, transmissions, electrical systems, and suspension components.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used for each vehicle.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations during all maintenance procedures.
- Collaborate with dispatchers and drivers to schedule repairs and minimize vehicle downtime.
- Stay updated on manufacturer recalls, service bulletins, and industry best practices to ensure fleet safety and compliance.
Skills
- Proven experience as a mechanic specializing in fleet or commercial vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine systems, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and repair guides with precision.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and report issues clearly.
- Valid mechanic certification or relevant technical training; ASE certification is a plus.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
