Position Description

Director, Learning and Development

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Community Credit Union of Florida in living out our Mission, “Always improve the financial well-being of our members and make a positive difference in our community.”

The Director of Learning and Development is responsible for creating and executing the credit union’s enterprise-wide learning strategy to support organizational performance, team member growth, and leadership development. This role leads the design, delivery, and evaluation of learning programs that strengthen retail and lending performance, enhance member service excellence, and prepare future leaders. The Director serves as a strategic partner to senior leaders, aligning learning initiatives with business priorities and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development across all levels of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement a comprehensive learning and development strategy that aligns with the credit union’s mission, values, and business goals.

• Partner with executive and departmental leaders to assess capability needs, performance gaps, and future skill requirements.

• Lead a team of learning professionals responsible for training design, facilitation, and program administration.

Retail and Lending Training

• Oversee the design and delivery of training programs that enhance sales, service, and operational excellence within retail branches and lending departments.

• Collaborate with retail and lending leadership to ensure training supports product knowledge, compliance, consultative sales, and member experience objectives.

• Monitor training effectiveness through performance metrics and feedback to ensure measurable impact on business outcomes.

Leadership and Professional Development

• Design and manage leadership development programs to build bench strength for current and future leadership roles.

• Provide guidance and coaching to leaders on developing and mentoring their teams.

• Champion initiatives that promote employee engagement, career growth, and organizational effectiveness.

Compliance Training

• Partner with the Compliance Department to develop, deliver, and track required compliance and regulatory training programs across the organization.

• Ensure all training materials accurately reflect current laws, regulations, and internal policies, including BSA/AML, Fair Lending, UDAAP, Privacy, and other applicable requirements.

• Maintain accurate records and reporting for internal and external audits and examinations.

• Promote a culture of accountability and understanding of compliance as part of everyday operations.

Team Leadership and Supervision

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of learning and development professionals responsible for training design, facilitation, compliance program administration, and LMS management.

• Set clear performance goals, provide ongoing feedback, and conduct regular performance evaluations.

• Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and professional growth.

• Manage departmental priorities, resources, and budgets to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

• Identify opportunities for team development through cross-training, mentoring, and continued education.

Learning Infrastructure and Evaluation

• Manage learning systems and tools, including the Learning Management System (LMS), to ensure accessibility, tracking, and reporting of learning activities.

• Evaluate and continuously improve programs through metrics, assessments, and feedback.

• Oversee vendor relationships for external training, e-learning content, and leadership programs.

Collaboration and Communication

• Partner with HR, Compliance, Marketing, and Operations to ensure training materials reflect current policies, products, and branding.

• Communicate learning priorities, progress, and results to stakeholders.

• Serve as a thought leader in adult learning methodologies, instructional design, and talent development trends.

Organizational Alignment

• Demonstrates enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values, and long-term objectives by performing job duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards, and our work procedures while possessing adequate product knowledge as measured by the annual product knowledge assessment.

• Delivers service to both internal and external members that is in alignment with the credit union’s Service Promises and meets all established service goals.

• Abides by CCU’s Service Promises when helping a member or co-worker to ensure timely responsiveness to the individual’s needs. Promotes teamwork, respects opinions, abilities, and contributions of others, and conveys a willingness to assist and cooperate with others for the benefit of the organization.

• Assists in attaining established departmental goals and adheres to all credit union standard operating policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations and guidelines.

• Performs other duties and works on special projects as assigned.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The work environment for this position is a typical open office setting that is clean, comfortable, and allows for free movement throughout the day. The role is performed primarily in an indoor environment and may occasionally include minor distractions such as background noise or temperature changes.

To perform the essential functions of this job, the employee must be able to meet certain physical requirements. Reasonable accommodation may be provided for individuals with disabilities. The position involves frequent computer and desk work, including extended periods of sitting, typing, writing, speaking, and listening. The employee may also be required to stand, walk, reach, bend, or kneel on occasion and should be able to lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. Good vision, including close, color, and peripheral vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus, is necessary to complete detailed tasks and work with various materials.

This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, telephones, calculators, and audiovisual tools for presentations and training sessions.

MENTAL DEMANDS

The incumbent in this position must be able to read documents or instruments, perform highly detailed work and problem solve; possess excellent member contact and verbal and written communication skills; conduct meetings and presentations; prepare written communications; have strong math and analytical reasoning skills; and the ability to effectively handle stress, multiple concurrent tasks, and constant interruptions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

• 8 years of progressive experience in learning and development, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.

• Experience designing and implementing training for retail banking, lending, or financial services required.

• Experience developing and leading leadership development programs required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and performance consulting.

• Proven ability to translate business objectives into learning strategies that drive measurable results.

• Excellent facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.

• Demonstrated leadership and team development abilities.

• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

The incumbent must be able to perform in this position safely, without endangering the health or safety to individual or others.
