Commercial Loan Officer I
The primary function of this position is to assist Community Credit Union of Florida in living out our Mission, “Always improve the financial well-being of our members and make a positive difference in our community.” One of the primary means to achieve this end is to develop a highly effective team of employees and develop each employee to their highest potential through coaching and leadership. Responsibility for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external members. A key service component is to listen to and identify the financial needs of the members and recommend an appropriate solution. In addition, the Commercial Loan Officer supports the Commercial Services department with the development and maintenance of business memberships. The team member ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures and state and federal regulations, and ensures all loan documentation is complete and accurate. Conduct credit reviews to assess credit risk and ensure risks are adequately identified, assessed, quantified, and controlled. The Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for attaining established individual and departmental goals and ensuring all activities run smoothly and efficiently for the department. The Commercial Loan Officer ensures all lending activities are in the best interest of the members and the credit union.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1) Demonstrates enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values, and long-term objectives by performing job duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards, and our work procedures while possessing adequate product knowledge as measured by the annual product knowledge assessment.
2) Delivers service to both internal and external members that is in alignment with the credit union’s Service Promises and meets all established service goals.
3) Abides by CCU’s Service Promises when helping a member or co-worker to ensure timely responsiveness to the individual’s needs. Promotes teamwork, respects opinions, abilities, and contributions of others, and conveys a willingness to assist and cooperate with others for the benefit of the organization.
4) Assists in attaining established departmental goals and adheres to all credit union standard operating policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations and guidelines.
5) Reviews member inquiries, accepts loan applications, and assesses the customer’s ability to repay the loan. Makes underwriting recommendations based upon analysis. Completes or directs completion of all loan documents and closes loans.
6) Monitors existing loan portfolio to maintain a high-quality asset base. Maintains up-to-date client files, including current balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and all loan documentation. Assist members with any loan-related questions and concerns. The Commercial Loan Officer may complete an annual site visit of each commercial member to cultivate an ongoing relationship.
7) Participates in business development activities to grow the commercial loan and deposit portfolio through increased market penetration. Participates in community, business, and service organization affairs to assist in furthering market penetration and represents and promotes the credit union at external functions.
8) Leads the adoption of business products and services enterprise-wide. Works with front-line team members to engage business members and prospects; coaches team members on member engagement and making quality recommendations that meet the members’ needs. Collaborates with CCU team members across all channels to educate and promote business services and lending.
9) Analyzes and interprets financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant documents to ensure lending risks are adequately identified, assessed, and quantified. Consistently apply decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, and requests as they apply to existing policies, procedures, and regulations.
10) Assists in formulating strategies for developing existing markets, opening new markets, and providing recommendations for change to senior management; remains informed of competitive situations and of new, successful ideas and methods in marketing and public relations.
11) Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of credit union membership/loan policy, dividend rates, interest rates, required document disclosure, and procedure quality control. Additionally, the Commercial Loan Officer recommends and initiates corrective actions.
12) Contributes to the overall profitability of the credit union; implements cost controls, income generation, and adheres to and monitors expenses to budget to assist with the Commercial Services Department’s strategic plans to align with the credit union’s business plan. Assist other loan officers with larger or more complex loans.
13) Maintains ongoing communication with the immediate supervisor and others directly related, informing them of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, and other important information within their area of responsibility.
14) Follows policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations.
15) Performs other related duties and works on special projects as assigned.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The environment for this position is an open office that is clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which the individual is free to move about at will, and includes driving a vehicle as needed in the course of the incumbent’s duties.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or three (3) to five (5) or more years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work-related experience may consist of direct involvement in lending. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school, or a financial industry-related curriculum, is required to apply to the financial industry.
• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in financial sales and loan underwriting. Proven skills in building and servicing loan and deposit portfolios and marketing of Commercial products.
• Possesses the ability to analyze and interpret financial statements, financial data, and tax returns, and uses that ability to make sound credit decisions; in-depth knowledge of state and federal compliance regulations is required.
• Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with different personalities at various levels. Must demonstrate the highest levels of member service, empathy, and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines/requirements for extreme accuracy and quality, and/or fast pace.
• Intermediate skills in personal computer operation, including word processing and spreadsheet software programs (i.e., Microsoft Word and Excel, etc.), and typing skills to meet the production needs of the position.
• Advanced math skills: the ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate and ratio; draft and interpret graphs and technical documents; apply mathematical operations to tasks.
• Exceptional oral, written, interpersonal communication, and coaching skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, draft reports, and correspondence, speak clearly to members and team members.
• A current Florida driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage are required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
The incumbent must be able to perform in this position safely, without endangering the individual’s health and safety or the health and safety of others.
