What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Support Specialist position at Community Counseling & Mentoring Services, Inc.?
Position Summary :
The Enrichment Program is a therapeutic program that provides intensive service to children and adolescents that can benefit from social skill building, coping skill development, life-skill development and more. We utilize group therapy, individual therapy, and extra-curricular activities to enhance children’s development and overall self-worth.
CCMS is looking for energetic, passionate individuals to join our team.
Duties & Responsibilities (including, but not limited to) :
- Serving as support specialist in respective group room
- Implement and maintain programs behavior modification plans
- Model appropriate behavioral interventions and techniques for assistant support staff
- Ensure behavioral and program expectations are met
- Maintain appropriate documentation as required
- Manage behavioral issues using appropriate crisis intervention techniques if necessary
- Facilitate group community meetings
- Develop, coordinate and facilitate extra-curricular and/or “special” activities
- Foster a community culture within group environment
- Attend and participate in scheduled meetings as requested
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in area of behavioral science (e.g. psychology, social work, counseling, child development, etc.)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with children and adolescents
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with a special needs, children-aged population
- Certification in Crisis Intervention Strategies
- Related non-school experience with at-risk children and/or adolescents
Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Strong leadership abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with school-aged children, parents and families
- Strong desire to work with children and adolescents
- Ability to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers; team-player
Job-Type: Part-Time (20-30 hours p/week)Availability Needed: After-school/Evening Hours
Salary: $15-$18 /Hour
