Position Range: $60,800 - $91,200 (Salary commensurate based on experience) 

Position Type: Hybrid 

Outpatient Mental Health Intake and Services (50%)

  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments for individuals seeking outpatient mental health and/or substance use treatment services, utilizing the DSM-5 and screening tools such as the ASAM.
  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments, substance use screenings, risk assessments, and diagnostic impressions.
  • Determine clinical appropriateness and level of care recommendations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to coordinate admissions and referrals to appropriate services.
  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed during the intake process.
  • Educate clients on available treatment services and support engagement into care.
  • Pre-screens consumers by phone or in person. Screenings consist of evaluation of need for care, eligibility, motivation for treatment, and insurance coverage.
  • Provides direct clinical services to consumers including triage, psychosocial assessment, community support, treatment planning, psychotherapy/counseling, urgent or emergency service response.
  • Completes enrollment and ongoing documentation into the Electronic Medical Record for all services in a timely manner and according to established standards
  • Verifies insurance, Reviews consent for treatment, and Completes clinical assessment, treatment plan, crisis plan, and Provides client orientation to the agency at-large.
  • Evaluates clinical progress and modifies the method and intensity of clinical service as indicated by consumer progress and reaction.
  • Develop resources and relationships with external stakeholders and network members to improve referral opportunities.
  • Supports referral process for consumers internally and externally for services as needed.
  • Teams with physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical supervisors, clinical teams, administrative support staff, and pharmacy staff to coordinate care as applicable.
  • Care coordination - communicates with external agencies and other treatment providers, especially co-located service providers, as needed.
  • Performs other administrative duties as assigned for the overall system of care, including but not limited to enrollments and discharges, assignments and transitions in care, etc.
  • Provide community-based services as clinically appropriate
  • Meets all program-specific performance and productivity expectations.
  • OBHC I may be given the opportunity to supervise a student or peer staff member at the discretion of the Supervisor.

 

Outpatient Substance-Use Disorder Intake and Services (50%)

  • Provide SUD intake utilizing relevant assessment tools to include the DSM-5 and ASAM
  • Provide SUD counseling and clinical care coordination support for clients enrolled in outpatient addictions services.
  • Develop and facilitate daily substance use treatment groups using evidence-based and recovery-oriented approaches.
  • Conduct in-reach and outreach and engagement activities to increase referrals and improve treatment participation and retention.
  • Collaborate with internal and external providers to support continuity of care.
  • Monitor client progress and assist with treatment planning and service coordination.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all clinical services.
  • Meets all program-specific performance and productivity expectations.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and program development activities.

  • Completes and stays current on role specific and organizational wide training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned on an as-needed basis.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required.
  • Active clinical licensure in Washington, DC as one of the following:
    • Required: Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) or Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC)
    • Preferred: Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Required: Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Preferred: Experience in outpatient behavioral health and/or addictions treatment.
  • Knowledge of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Strong clinical assessment, engagement, and group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to understand clinical concepts (engagement, outreach, empathy, etc.) and interventions over time and to incorporate these into clinical practice under supervision of clinical manager.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
