Class Description

The Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the ASAP THRIVE @ CCBC, ensuring effective implementation and programmatic development. Modeled on the highly successful CUNY Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP), ASAP THRIVE (Targeted Help, Resources, Inclusion, Vision and Engagement) is a comprehensive college completion approach designed to improve graduation rates by addressing the financial, academic, and personal challenges that impact student success. This is a grant funded position.

This position is responsible for overseeing program operations, including staff recruitment and supervision, student engagement initiatives, budget management, and outcomes assessment. The Director also serves as the primary representative, both internally and externally, building collaborative partnerships and ensuring alignment with CCBC's policies, priorities, and institutional goals.

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree and five (5) years of full-time professional work experience in higher education. A minimum of three (3) years of experience supervising full­ time staff in a student services or academic support department is required.

Demonstrated experience in budget oversight and strategic planning.

Experience in program management, including design, implementation, and project assessment, preferred.

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale .

Class Specific Essential Duties

  • In compliance with CUNY-ASAP standards and college guidelines, implement innovative practices and document all policies, procedures, and data to strengthen operational processes within the department.
  • Prepare, administer, and monitor the operating budget (including forecasting anticipated expenditures), and report any variances.
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff to review policies and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining goals and objectives.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Prepare, analyze, and submit college and other reports on time as required.
  • Participate in and lead a variety of meetings, committees, or other related groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, areas of opportunity, and/or other pertinent information as appropriate.
  • Oversee service to students on evenings, weekends, and virtually.

Position Specific Essential Duties

  • Oversee the delivery, development, and monitoring of program components, related policies and procedures, and data collection/reporting activities to ensure successful progress toward recruitment and enrollment targets, student engagement initiatives, and program academic performance benchmarks.
  • Design and implement interventions and academic support strategies to foster student retention and completion with particular emphasis on students at risk of not completing their academic program.
  • Develop partnerships with college departments integral to programming and co-create processes for distributing program incentives in coordination with appropriate college departments.
  • Monitor the development of comprehensive supports for student career readiness and professional development.
  • Develop and oversee strategies to increase FAFSA completion rates and reduce the number of students failing to make satisfactory academic progress (SAP).
  • Organize special events, workshops, and engagement opportunities for ASAP THRIVE @ CCBC students, faculty, and staff.
  • Cultivate campus and community partnerships that enhance program visibility, buy-in, and student success.
  • Regularly attend required meetings, including meetings with the CUNY­ ASAP replication team, prepare reports for the ASAP THRIVE @ CCBC Core Team, and share outcomes each semester with college leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to advance the program's mission.

  • Permanent Whole Life Insurance with Optional Long Term Care rider available through Unum. Available to full-time employees, part-time associates, and adjunct faculty.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment: The Hartford

Individual or Family Coverage. Employee pays a rate in multiples of $10,000 to a maximum of $300,000.

Long-Term Disability

Plan pays 60% of gross monthly salary after 90 consecutive days of absence. Employee pays 100% of premium.

Supplemental (Retirement Annuities) 403(b) and 457(b)

  • Tax-sheltered annuities – 403(b). Payroll salary reduction authorization is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms. The 403(b) supplemental retirement plan is available to all CCBC employees (Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees).
  • Roth 403(b) is a savings feature that is available when you open a 403(b) account. The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors: TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorization form is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms.

Tuition Assistance
