Community Clinical Services (CCS) is a mission-driven Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing integrated primary care, behavioral health, and supportive services to our community. CCS is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to lead financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and support the organization through a critical period of stabilization and long-term sustainability.
This role is ideal for a hands-on finance leader with strong accounting fundamentals, experience with accrual-based accounting, nonprofit and grants expertise, and experience in community health or FQHC environments.
Position Summary
The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, grants management, and compliance. This position works closely with the CEO, Board Finance Committee, and external partners to ensure accurate financial information, fiscal accountability, and informed decision-making.
The Director of Finance plays a key role in strengthening CCS’s financial infrastructure and supporting the organization’s transition toward long-term financial stability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Accounting
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll coordination, and monthly close
- Ensure accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial procedures
- Coordinate annual audit, tax filings, and external financial reviews
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Lead development of the annual operating budget in collaboration with leadership
- Monitor budget performance and prepare regular variance analyses
- Develop cash flow projections and financial forecasts
- Provide clear, actionable financial analysis to support operational and strategic decisions
Grants & Nonprofit Financial Management
- Oversee financial management of grants, contracts, and restricted funding
- Ensure compliance with grant reporting, allowable costs, and funder requirements
- Partner with program and development staff on budgeting, reporting, and reimbursement tracking
- Support preparation of financial reports for foundations, government funders, and donors
FQHC & Healthcare Finance (Preferred)
- Support financial reporting related to FQHC operations, including cost reports and Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement
- Collaborate with clinical and operations leaders to understand service-level financial performance
- Assist with rate analysis, cost allocation, and financial data needed for regulatory or payer submissions
Board & Leadership Support
- Prepare financial reports and dashboards for the Board of Directors and Finance Committee
- Present financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
- Support financial planning related to organizational recovery, risk mitigation, and sustainability initiatives
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Experience managing grants and restricted funds
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
Preferred
- Experience in a nonprofit healthcare setting
- FQHC experience, including cost reports and Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement
- Experience working with Boards and Finance Committees
- Familiarity with healthcare EHR/financial systems and revenue cycle concepts
