Our General Dentist provides comprehensive and appropriate dental care and treatment to adult patients and may occasionally treat adolescents—routine and emergency dental services, including diagnosis and treatment plans, general restorative procedures, uncomplicated endodontics, minor oral surgery, and hospital OR surgery. The dentist will mentor and supervise general dental residents, programs, and staff, as assigned, including dental assistants and dental hygienists.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide routine and emergency dental services, including diagnosis and treatment plans, general restorative procedures, uncomplicated endodontics, and minor oral surgery.
  • Initiate and interpret X-ray and lab studies.
  • Administer and prescribe anesthetics and medications.
  • Refer patients for specialty care to other clinic programs or outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Conduct follow-up patient care.
  • Provide dental and oral health education to patients and families
  • Assist in reviewing clinic productivity, scheduling procedures, and establishing guidelines for care and treatment.
  • Teach and train patients and staff on illness prevention.
  • Actively participate in community dental programs
  • Assist with in-service and ongoing training of clinic staff and dental residents.
  • Build relationships and foster a high level of customer service.
  • Manage demanding clients and patients, demonstrating interpersonal savvy and influence skills.
  • Exercise professional judgment in providing services consistent with the organization’s policies and the standards of the dental profession.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of dentistry and associated charting requirements in EMR.
  • Perform assigned dental tasks using a high level of skills and ability.
  • Computer and database proficiency.
  • Utilize and monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of all equipment and supplies used to deliver services.
  • Communicate effectively and frequently in verbal and written communication formats.
  • Implement and evaluate operational and administrative processes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dental Director.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A DDS or DMD from an accredited educational institution.
  • Completed a General Dental Residency program or equivalent.
  • State of Hawaii current license.
  • Ability to be credentialed with the clinic’s health plans, current TB and BLS CPR.
  • Demonstrated expertise in relevant dental practices, protocol, trends, and best practices in dentistry with at least one (1) year of dentistry experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills and competency in ambulatory care.
  • Familiarity with Hawai‘i and its diverse cultures preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and emergencies successfully.

Our hours of operation are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour meal break.

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a $15,000 sign-on bonus, CDE up to $3,600 plus 5 paid days, excellent benefits, generous paid time off, and a friendly work environment.
