Special Education Paraprofessional, Extended School Year (ESY)

The Community Charter School of Paterson is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to join the 2026 Summer Program.

Grades & Subjects: 

• Elementary School: Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

Program Hours: 

• July 1, 2026 - July 30, 2026
• Monday - Thursday, 8:00am - 1:00pm 
• (scheduled hours per position TBA)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists the teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional program.

• Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.

• Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.

• Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher.

• Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.

• Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher.

• Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.

• Helps the teacher to plan and maintain bulletin board and other classroom learning displays.

• Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.

• Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and assists in the supervision of testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher.

• Performs clerical duties related to the instructional program including attendance reports, collection of money, duplication of materials, and distribution and return of notices to home.

• Helps very young students with their clothing, snack time routine, and toileting activities.

• Participates in in-service training as assigned.

• Performs other duties as assigned this may include but is not limited to leading structured play and wiggle breaks etc. 

• Performs other duties as assigned by CCSP leadership.

Qualifications:

• Associate Degree preferred.

• 1 Year of Experience in Youth Development

• Very strong computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Outlook.

• Spanish speaking preferred.
