Staff Development and Infection Control Nurse
Position Summary:
The Staff Development and Infection Control Nurse is responsible for coordinating all activities related to infection prevention and control, while also developing, implementing, and evaluating staff education and new hire orientation programs. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and promotes a safe, well-trained workforce that delivers high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
Infection Prevention and Control:
- Coordinate and manage the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Program to meet all regulatory requirements.
- Set standards, support implementation, and evaluate infection prevention practices such as hand hygiene, transmission-based precautions, and environmental cleaning and disinfection.
- Identifying and documenting infections, calculating infection rates, analyzing data, and reporting findings to leadership.
- Review and update infection prevention policies and procedures annually.
- Facilitate outbreak investigations, conduct root cause analyses, and develop action plans for infection control improvements.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of staff influenza vaccinations and other immunization initiatives.
- Actively participate in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) committee, strengthening infection prevention practices through collaboration.
- Identify when residents need to be placed on isolation precautions and collaborate with environmental services to prevent cross-contamination.
- Develop and implement an annual infection control risk assessment.
Staff Development and Training:
- Develop, coordinate, and implement comprehensive orientation for new hires to ensure competency and readiness.
- Plan and conduct ongoing education and training programs for current staff based on identified needs, regulatory updates, and quality improvement goals.
- Maintain accurate records of staff education, competencies, and certifications to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Educate staff on infection prevention practices, regulatory standards, clinical skills, emergency preparedness, and new protocols.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and adjust strategies as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
Qualifications:
- LPN or RN in good standing.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or willingness to obtain preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and apply evidence-based practices.
- Prior experience in staff education, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance within a healthcare setting is highly desirable

Pay: From $28.50 per hour
