The Community Care Clinic of Franklin is a nonprofit, free and charitable healthcare clinic dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality medical care to uninsured and underserved adults in Macon County and the surrounding communities. Our mission is to improve access to healthcare while treating every patient with dignity, respect, and compassion.

We are seeking a compassionate, patient-centered Licensed Mental Health Therapist / Counselor to join our integrated healthcare team. This individual will provide high-quality behavioral health services to adults experiencing a variety of mental health concerns while collaborating closely with our medical providers to support whole-person care.

Position Summary

The Mental Health Therapist/Counselor provides individual counseling, behavioral health assessments, crisis intervention, and care coordination for adult patients. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, this position helps patients improve emotional well-being, develop healthy coping strategies, and overcome barriers to achieving better physical and mental health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments and psychosocial evaluations.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients.
  • Provide individual counseling using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Screen for depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, and other behavioral health concerns.
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and risk assessments as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, and community resources.
  • Assist patients in developing healthy coping skills and wellness strategies.
  • Refer patients to community agencies and specialty behavioral health services when appropriate.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, ethical standards, and all applicable regulations.
  • Participate in community outreach and educational events as opportunities arise.

Qualifications Required

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current North Carolina licensure in one of the following:
  • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) (if applicable)
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and clinical assessment skills.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed and patient-centered care.
  • Commitment to serving uninsured and underserved populations.Preferred
  • Experience in outpatient behavioral health, primary care, community health, or integrated healthcare settings.
  • Experience providing brief interventions and solution-focused therapy.
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), or other evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Experience working with patients experiencing chronic medical conditions.
  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.Benefits
