What are the responsibilities and job description for the Portfolio Manager, Community Projects position at Community Capital Fund?
Community Capital Fund is hiring a Portfolio Manager, Community Projects to support and strengthen a growing portfolio of fiscally sponsored projects in the Kansas City region.
This role sits on our Fiscal Sponsorship team—working directly with grassroots leaders, emerging nonprofits, and community-based organizations to help them build strong, sustainable operations while advancing meaningful community impact.
This position is centered on organizational development and relationship management. You will manage a portfolio of projects and work 1:1 with project leaders to help them:
- Build strong, sustainable organizations
- Strengthen operations, strategy, and leadership
- Navigate financial, compliance, and infrastructure needs
You will also partner internally to improve systems, processes, and the overall effectiveness of CCF’s fiscal sponsorship practice.
- Provide hands-on organizational development support (strategy, operations, fundraising, leadership)
- Manage financial and compliance processes across a project portfolio
- Build and maintain strong relationships with project leaders and community partners
- Support project selection and onboarding
- Contribute to improving systems, policies, and tools that strengthen the practice
- Enjoy working directly with leaders of grassroots or emerging organizations
- Have experience in nonprofit operations (finance, compliance, HR, or systems)
- Are highly organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Bring a practical, solutions-oriented approach to complex challenges
- Value relationship-building and clear, direct communication
- 5 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, philanthropy, financial management, or related work
- Experience supporting or scaling programs or organizations
- Familiarity with the Kansas City community is a plus
