Community Habilitation Specialist Job Description:

- As a Community Habilitation Specialist, you will support people in recreational, social, and skill-building activities within their homes to achieve their goals while encouraging independence and personal choice.
- Community Based Services is a non-profit organization providing supports to people in the Hudson Valley and Capital Regions since 1981.
Community Habilitation Specialist – Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work mostly 1:1 with a person with developmental disabilities or autism to encourage independence as appropriate throughout daily routines and provide opportunities for people to participate in making choices as appropriate.
- Engage participation in recreation, social, and skill-building activities as appropriate.
- Complete documentation electronically as required.
Community Habilitation Specialist Qualifications/Skills:
- HS/GED preferred.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Prior experience working with people with developmental and intellectual disabilities preferred.
- Effective oral and written skills in English.
- Must work positively within a team environment and be able to work independently.
- Must have a personal computer device, such as smartphone, or tablet, and be able to perform required documentation on the personal device using company’s software.'
- *** Respite DSP Positions are also available, Respite cases require less duties. Hourly pay is $19.00 per hour and do not require driving.
