Role Description
The Assistant Director of Afterschool Programs will oversee day-to-day operations and ensure high-quality educational and enrichment experiences for participants. Responsibilities include managing program staff, coordinating schedules, tracking attendance and progress, and liaising with families, schools, and community stakeholders. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards, providing training and support for staff, and assisting in program monitoring and evaluations. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Bronx, NY.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership, organizational, and program management skills
- Experience in youth development, education, and afterschool programming
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff, families, and community partners
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate educational and enrichment activities
- Proficiency in administrative tasks such as scheduling, record-keeping, and compliance reporting
- Flexibility to adapt to program needs and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Experience in community-based organizations and a working understanding of the needs of diverse communities
- Fluency in Spanish is a strong advantage
