Security Professional

This full-time, on-site Security Professional role is based in Norfolk, VA, and supports the safety and security of Community Alliance facilities, staff, and individuals receiving services. The Security Professional monitors the premises, controls access to buildings, and conducts regular safety checks to maintain a calm, secure environment. Daily responsibilities include responding to security and safety incidents, documenting events, coordinating with clinical staff during behavioral health crises, and following established protocols and emergency procedures. The role also involves maintaining security systems, reporting maintenance needs, communicating clearly with team members, and engaging respectfully with individuals, families, and visitors in alignment with the organization’s person-centered approach.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid security guard license or certification as required by the state of employment.
• Proven experience in a security role or related field.
• Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Additional certifications such as CPR, first aid, or self-defense training.
• Experience with electronic security systems and access control technology.
• Prior experience in a corporate or large facility security environment.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to monitor for suspicious activity or safety hazards.
• Operate and monitor security systems, including surveillance cameras and alarm systems.
• Respond promptly and effectively to security incidents, emergencies, or breaches.
• Verify the identity of individuals entering the premises and enforce access control policies.
• Prepare detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and any security breaches.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency personnel when necessary.
• Provide assistance and guidance to employees and visitors regarding security procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, local laws, and regulations related to security.
