JOB SUMMARY
Position Title: Domestic Violence Resident Assistant – Substitute Staff
Program: Domestic Violence Services
Classification: Non-Exempt/Part-Time
Location: DVS Safe House
The Domestic Violence Resident Assistant provides quality client services by providing person-centered, trauma informed supportive services to callers via the 24-hour DV hotline and text line, and directly to Safe House residents. The Resident Assistant screens and greets visitors to the building and maintains a welcoming atmosphere.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Hotline and Text line:
- Answer hotline calls, texts, and manage Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) calls.
- Provide person-centered trauma-informed support, safety planning options and referrals to callers/DV survivors.
- Complete hotline forms/intakes, enrollments, and program exit.
- Screen and greet visitors to the building. Perform conflict checks.
2. Direct Client Services:
- Assist residents with requests for personal items, access to transportation, food, and any other emergent/basic needs.
- Provide consistent person-centered and trauma-informed emotional support.
3. Communication, Compliance, Accountability:
- Communicate essential information to other DVS team members in appropriate logs.
- Accurately record client data and services, and all other required data in client database per funder and DVS requirements.
- Maintain organized client files.
4. Safe House operations:
- Stock bathroom and kitchen supplies.
- Inspect, clean and prepare empty guest rooms for the next resident.
- Help manage the general cleanliness and order of the Safe House office area.
- Coordinate and organize donations, including sorting, distribution and storage.
- Assist in tracking inventory of custodial and basic Safe House supplies.
- Complete maintenance request forms.
5. Teamwork:
- Safe House team member.
- Assist in training interns, volunteers and new team members as applicable.
- Participate in the required holiday and weekend on-call Safe House coverage per DVS policies.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- H.S. Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in the social sciences preferred.
- Experience in a residential or shelter setting preferred.
