Duties
- Summary: Keeps office, restrooms, and classrooms in clean, sanitized and orderly condition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Maintain confidentiality.
2. Clean all restrooms daily (public and classroom).
3. Empty all wastebaskets daily.
4. Clean and disinfect wastebaskets weekly.
5. Disinfect door handles daily.
6. Clean and disinfect all sinks, faucet handles, and drinking fountains daily.
7. Check and refill all toilet paper and paper towel dispensers daily.
8. Check and fill hand soap dispensers daily.
9. Dust hard-to-reach places, mini-blinds, ceilings as needed.
10. Sweep and mop tile daily (classroom and hall).
11. Vacuum rugs and carpets daily (office area and classrooms).
12. Document work completed on sanitation schedule.
13. Snow removal as appropriate.
14. Other duties as assigned.
15. Must work independently during cleaning shifts and accurately record all clock-in and clock-out times with integrity.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Should have prior experience performing custodial duties.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete routine reports.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to travel throughout the four-county service area regularly. Must have a valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and be insurable. Prior to employment, and every three years thereafter, employee must have a physical examination with a TB screening (documented on DHS form 470-5152). Upon hire, and as required thereafter, must submit fingerprints for a national criminal record check. Upon hire, and as required thereafter, must obtain/maintain current: First Aid and CPR certification, Mandatory Child Abuse and Neglect certification, Medication Administration training, Universal Precautions, Bus Monitor training, and Nutrition/Civil Rights training as required by our regulatory agencies. Employee must have access to working telephone and must keep Central Office informed of the current telephone number.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to understand a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
