POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, basic carpentry, and other building systems as well as routine lawn care. This position will also perform general custodial and sanitation functions in and around the facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair
- Troubleshoots issues to determine the necessary repairs
- Plans and organizes repair schedules as needed
- Performs general repairs that do not require a licensed technician. Examples include, but are not limited to, repairing drywall, painting, repairing doors, replacing light switches/ outlets, addressing safety hazards and repairing other building fixtures.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems and preventative maintenance to reduce risk of future problems.
- Cleans and assists with the upkeep of facilities
- Performs similar job-related duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates both inside and outside of the facilities in an environment that may involve some exposure to hazards or physical risk, which will require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week as required by management.
Maintenance workers may be issued keys and alarm codes to locations as needed in order to perform work before or after business hours.
TRAVEL
Occasional local travel and some out of area travel will be required for training / job requirement purposes.

Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of related general maintenance experience
- Preferred
- CMAT or CMRT Certification
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers
- Familiarity with household and/or small industrial appliance repair.
- Knowledge of general carpentry and repair
- Knowledge of general plumbing and repair
- Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of hand tools and power tools
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory MVR
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; lift up to 50 pounds; and reach with hands and arms and engage in considerable physical activity. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
The position lifts heavy objects, walks, and stands for long periods of time, and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina. Applicants must be able to pass the DOT physical exam.
