JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Pharmacy Technician
SUPERVISOR: Pharmacy Manager

A. JOB SUMMARY: Assist with accurate and timely prescription processing. Communicates with patients over the phone and in pharmacy to address customer service issues. Assist with housekeeping and maintenance of pharmacy. Pharmacy technician willbe responsible for additional tasks assigned by the pharmacy manager.
- SPECIFIC DUTIES/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist in Prescription Processing
1. Accurately and timely fill all prescriptions
2. Input patient and prescription data into the computer system
3. Process 3rd party billing and insurance rejections
4. Retrieve the appropriate medications from stock
5. Place the appropriate medications into prescription containers
6. Create prescription labels and put them on appropriate prescription containers
7. Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions
8. Refer drug questions to the Pharmacist
9. Process patient assistance program requests
10. Follow current and new Federal and State Laws
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Customer Service
1. Ensure prompt service by assisting patients
2. Answer telephones promptly
3. Retrieve prescriptions from the will-call area for patients
4. Complete pharmacy patient transactions on the cash register
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist with housekeeping and maintenance of pharmacy
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Additional tasks as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager
- REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be 18 years old or older
- Minimum: a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have basic computer skills
- 1-year experience or graduation from a Pharmacy Technician program
- Registered as a pharmacy technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy
- ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Adhere to and implement the agency’s mission and goals
- Successfully complete background check including Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Medicare exclusion list, verification of valid driver’s license, employment medical exam, including a TB test, and any other screenings/testing required by CAA policies/procedures and/or requirements of all funding sources. CAA is a drug/alcohol-free and smoke-free workplace and post-offer drug and alcohol testing is required.
- Must have an insurable driver’s license and be bondable
- Obtain continuing education courses and training as required to update knowledge and skills to assure continued efficiency
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Current BLS certification
- 180-day probationary period
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and often high-stress environment as well as the ability to adapt quickly to workload changes
- Ability to deal with inside and outside clientele and vendors in a diplomatic and courteous manner while assuring adherence to CAACC policies/procedures
- Above-average oral, reading and writing skills to accurately operate a computer, perform necessary documentation and effectively communicate with staff, patients, clients, customers, business partners, other CAACC departments and visitors
- Ability to stand for lengthy periods of time; ability to walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to effectively supervise providers and other staff members.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
