As a Direct Support Professional, you’ll help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities build independence, develop life skills, participate in their communities, and work toward their personal goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building Meaningful Relationships: Develop positive, respectful relationships with the people you support
- Supporting Daily Living: Assist with cooking, personal care, hygiene, household tasks, and other activities of daily living
- Promoting Independence: Encourage individuals to develop practical skills, make choices, and reach personal goals
- Connecting People With Their Communities: Support community outings, appointments, recreational activities, and opportunities for social engagement
- Providing Medication Support: Administer medications according to training, authorization, and established procedures
- Maintaining a Safe Environment: Help keep the home clean, comfortable, organized, and welcoming
- Documenting Care: Complete required documentation accurately and consistently
- Advocating for Individual Rights: Respect each person's dignity, preferences, choices, and right to live a meaningful life
Direct Support Professional Qualifications
We’re looking for dependable, compassionate individuals who are ready to learn, work as part of a team, and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- A valid driver’s license is required for all day-shift and swing-shift positions
- Ability to pass a national background check
- Ability to meet company driver approval requirements
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and assist with mobility support as needed
- Willingness to complete required training and follow established safety and support procedures
- Previous experience is welcome but not required.
