What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Giver position at Community Academy of Philadelphia, C.S.?
OVERVIEW OF POSITION: The Child care givers supervise, care for, and teach children in the daycare program. Children at the daycare can vary in age from six weeks to five years old.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A combination of education and/or experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 1 year of related work experience
ABILITY TO:
- Greet children as they arrive at the center and at the end of the day inform parents of any accomplishments or incidents that occurred during the course of the day.
- Teach children physical, emotional, intellectual, and social skills.
- Take care of the children’s physical needs. E.g. (feedings, diaper or potty usage, and ensure they take a nap).
- Oversee the children’s developmental and emotional growth. If they notice any signs of emotional or developmental problems, they should address it with their supervisor.
- Monitor children’s play and interaction to maintain a safe environment.
- Organize and oversee activities and crafts. Provide activities to motivate and cause the child to be challenged in a learning environment.
- Assisting in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the lead teacher.
- Assisting in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies.
- Providing coverage in the various daycare rooms as needed.
- Helping with maintaining a clean daycare environment.
- Maintaining professional demeanor when interacting with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Participating in professional workshops that work for the improvement of early childhood education.
- Communicate with parents/guardians.
- Collaborate with other colleagues.
- Supervising outside playground activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, daycare manager, Principal or his/her designee.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.50 - $16.00 per hour
