COMMUNITIES OVERCOMING VIOLENT ENCOUNTERS JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Outreach Advocate (Lake/Oceana)
Reports To: Legal Advocate/Client Services Director
Classification: Non-Exempt; $15-18 Per Hour; On-Call Premium; Benefits after 90 Days
Type: Full-time (M-F, 40 Hours, Some Evenings & Weekends) On-Call Rotation
Description: Position provides direct client services including but not limited to: crisis intervention, advocacy, and information and referrals for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Focused service area is in Lake and Oceana county. EOE
Essential Functions/Duties Includes But Not Limited To:
§ Provide safety planning with victims of domestic violence.
§ Be responsive to survivors self-identified needs including but not limited to law enforcement, courts, Prosecution, landlords, and other participant driven needs
§ Provide advocacy to survivors in an empowering, respectful manner
§ Continue case management as client transitions from Residential to Outreach services
§ Provide participant transportation if needed, and accompany to appointments
§ Document and maintain confidential client files on all services provided
§ Complete paperwork in a timely manner as required from funding sources
§ Act as a resource providing appropriate referrals for DV survivors as needed
§ Attend all staff meetings, trainings and weekly case management meetings
§ Maintain current knowledge of available community resources and state laws regarding domestic violence and sexual assault
§ Provide after-hours on-call on a rotating basis
§ Facilitate DV weekly group for survivors in Lake and Oceana county
§ Accompany survivors to court as needed
Other Responsibilities:
§ Maintain confidentiality at all times
§ Adhere to, promote, and enforce all philosophies, policies and procedures of COVE
§ Allow flexibility with work schedule for job function
§ Fill-in for other positions as necessary
§ Responsible for other duties as assigned by supervisor or the Executive Director
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills: Empathy and compassion for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault; ability to provide services according to agency philosophy of empowerment; ability to work with diverse backgrounds and populations; conflict resolution skills; team player; self-motivated; able to work without direct supervision. Bi-Lingual a plus
Preferred Education/Experience: BS or BA in Human Service Field preferred or 3 years’ equivalent work experience with direct client services in a related field in lieu of degree; own reliable transportation and maintain proper insurance and current license.
