At Communities In Schools of Cape Fear, we are "all-in" for kids. Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. To do this, we place staff inside targeted, high-need public schools, who work directly with vulnerable students and those with the greatest risk of dropping out throughout the school day and help nearly 3,000 students to stay in school and on the path to graduation each year. Our unique model works because it's based on national research, driven by community relationships, and supported by local resources. Current programs include Student Support Specialists at 34 area schools, afterschool programs at 6 schools in Pender County; 6-week literacy- and social action-based Children's Defense Fund Freedom Schools each summer in New Hanover County; Enrichment Camps and 6th and 9th grade transition programs each summer in Pender County; programming to support and empower young parents; and Teen Court, Mediation, Restorative Justice, and Restitution.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Director, and in collaboration with the Development Director and Communications Manager, the Pender County Development Coordinator will plan, execute, and manage Pender County fundraising events, ensure smooth event operations and post-event follow-up, and foster donor relationships. This role will blend event management with fundraising strategy, focusing on engagement, revenue generation, and brand awareness for CIS Cape Fear, with a particular emphasis on Pender County
Responsibilities:
● Donor/Partner Cultivation: Increase organizational awareness and Pender County donor base by identifying and cultivating key partnerships across Pender County, participating in professional task forces, networking events, nonprofit resource fairs, Chamber of Commerce events, faith-based partnerships, and corporate outreach activities to support private giving. In collaboration with the Development Director, and Communications Manager, plan and execute donor communications and appreciation activities.
Event Planning & Logistics: Develop event concepts, timelines, and detailed plans; secure venues; manage vendor relations (catering, A/V); coordinate setup/teardown.
Fundraising & Development: Support Pender County fundraising goals by increasing our database of Burgaw and Topsail area donors, newsletter readers and social media followers, and track event revenue against targets.
Marketing & Promotion: Collaborate with our Communications Manager to promote events and create promotional materials.
On-Site Management: Oversee event execution, manage staff/volunteers, troubleshoot issues, and ensure a positive attendee experience.
Reporting & Analysis: Conduct post-event debriefs, analyze success, gather feedback, and prepare reports.

Physical Demands
This role does require some light physical demands i.e. spending hours listening and talking; working on the computer and phone; driving to appointments and events; lifting light pieces of equipment and materials; and occasionally working long days, nights or weekends.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
