Position: Post-Secondary Coordinator
Location: University High School
Supervisor: CISSCProgram Director/Manager (employer) and designated school administrator
Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time (40 hours per week). Up to two (optional) weeks off over school breaks. Some evening and weekend work required. $19 - $21 per hour.
This position is grant funded from date of hire through June 30, 2024.

General Function:
The Career and College Coordinator (CCC) provides high school students with opportunities for post high school training and education. The CCC is responsible for contributing to the overall planning and coordination of Communities In Schools of Spokane County (CISSC) operations and will support students through the implementation of the evidence-based CIS model of integrated student supports. The CCC will work with school administration, community partners and volunteers to coordinate resources necessary to address post-secondary education options for students who have identified vulnerabilities. The CCC will work with student support staff, particularly those involved in CTE to identify potential participants and to assist with the FAFSA and WAFSA application process. The CCC will collaborate with school administrators, school counselors and staff, other college access providers and community partners. The CCC brokers and/or provides confidential, appropriate and culturally competent interventions, services and supports to students and families. They also work in partnership with community partners and other agencies to assure additional resources are available for students and families.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Actively mentor identified students, delivering content and resources to assist with post high school training and education. Goal of 80% or more making a secondary commitment by June 2024.
· Work with school principals, school staff and local community partners to recruit and enroll high school students in job shadowing, exposure and placement.
· Meet with students individually to gather input on their interests, issues and perceived barriers to success.
· In collaboration with appropriate high school staff, monitor academic performance and track attendance for each student to ensure progress toward the goal of becoming post high school ready/eligible.
· Collaborate and communicate with the school's college counselor and other college access program providers to support college planning for students who have an interest in attending college.
· Submit student data, monthly program and grant required reports to the Program Manager as required.
· Work with partner mentor programs to recruit, train, assign and monitor mentors and volunteers as needed.
· Maintain records on mentors and volunteers as required by CISSC, NW Launch and WSAC.
· Organize, schedules, and chaperones field trips relevant to college and career exploration including career/employment fairs or campus tours.
· Attend professional development opportunities and other meetings as assigned.
· Attend occasional evening and weekend events.
· Coordinate or support a minimum of 3 family engagement events related to post-secondary education opportunities.
· Performs other duties as it relates to student support.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of communities served by the high school where services are delivered.
· Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
· Organizing, performing, and prioritizing multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail.
· Experience with human relations and problem-solving ability.
· Handle a variety of tasks and projects on an ongoing basis, including meetings with students, volunteers, school personnel, parents/guardians, student serving non-profit and government organizations, business owners and other community members.
· Utilize proactive approaches to problem-solving with decision-making capability.
· Build relationship with diverse stakeholders, including staff and external partners.
· Be a "self-starter", able to work independently while observing and complying with WSAC grant requirements and CISSC accreditation standards.
· Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. Must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
· Ability to pass a criminal background check once an offer of employment has been tendered.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Knowledge of the principles, theories, practices, methods and techniques applicable to career and technical education.
· Demonstrated ability to facilitate organized work groups of educators, industry representative and parent, community and labor leaders.
· Knowledge of labor market information for planning and implementation of career and technical education/work-based learning.
· Experience working with diverse populations and age groups.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Strong problem solving, interpersonal and organizational skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work directly and effectively with students.
· Effective team building, collaborative and consensus building skills.
· Functional computer skills.
· Excellent time and resource management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
· Bachelor's degree preferred or five years of experience in fields related to mentoring, leadership development, youth development, education, teaching or counseling.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
During a pandemic, the employee must be able to work in public, using appropriate protective equipment, directly with students and adults one on one or in groups. Employee must also be able to work remotely and use collaborative software in order to communicate with others and attend virtual meetings. Work is generally conducted in a school environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues. Work environment is moderately quiet. Employees must be able to handle stress that is involved in meeting strenuous deadlines and be flexible and able to interact with employees at all levels.
