Job Description
Communities Advocating for Resident Empowerment (C.A.R.E) is a nonprofit social service provider. C.A.R.E is looking for a part-time (20 hours per week) Activities Coordinator to provide organized social, recreational and enrichment activities at an affordable housing community in San Marcos, California. Primary responsibilities are organizing and leading after school program, adult educational/ well-being classes, community events and program development for school age children.
Qualifications
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement age appropriate activities and events that meet the developmental needs and interests of youth and adult residents
- Experience working with youth in after school, tutor, childcare, or day camp setting or social service environment
- Ability to lead and motivate residents in activities, such as curriculum activities, sports, games, and a variety of events
- Ability to organize and schedule tasks while maintaining accurate records of resident participation and program success
- Ability to coordinate outreach, organize, and manage volunteers and vendors as needed to expand site programs provided; including but not limited to: nutrition, exercise, wellness, and other educational classes
- Ability to outreach to residents to promote all classes, workshops, and community events
- Must work well with youth, adults, management, and diverse populations
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to facilitate a variety of workshops for large and small groups
- Ability to facilitate resident forums and meetings for large and small groups
- Ability to respond to critical incidents and the ability to act appropriately in an emergency situation
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs and must be able to provide instruction on basic computer skills in a computer lab setting
- Ability and willingness to maintain registration and attendance records
- Must be able to work independently and as a team player
- Must be a high school graduate or possess GED equivalency
- Valid California driver's license and/or reliable transportation
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more
- Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work
- Must be willing to travel if necessary
- Bilingual English/Spanish
