CommuniKids Preschool & Children's Language Center is seeking caring, energetic, and dedicated Bilingual (Spanish-English) Assistant Teachers to join our team in Washington, DC.
As the region's premier language immersion preschool and a proud NAEYC-accredited program, CommuniKids provides children with an exceptional early childhood education while helping them become fluent in a second language. We are looking for educators who are passionate about working with young children in a nurturing, engaging, and collaborative environment.
Available Schedules Part-Time
- Monday–Friday
- 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- 12:00 PM -6:00 PM
- 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Available Schedules Full-Time
- Monday–Friday
- 40 hours per week
Position Summary
The Assistant Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool-aged children. This role supports classroom instruction, daily routines, child development, and positive relationships with families and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome children and families in a warm, professional, and positive manner each day.
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities.
- Support children's learning through:
- Play
- Music
- Art
- Reading
- Writing
- STEM activities
- Outdoor play
- Foster children's physical, social, emotional, language, and cognitive development.
- Encourage positive behavior while supporting each child's individual learning needs.
- Assist children with daily routines, including hygiene and bathroom assistance.
- Help prepare classroom materials and learning activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Communicate professionally with families and coworkers.
- Participate in team meetings and school events as needed.
- Complete additional duties assigned by school leadership.
QualificationsRequired
- CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential or equivalent
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Valid authorization to work in the United States
- Passion for working with young children
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
Preferred
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Two (2) or more years of preschool or childcare experience
- Native Spanish speaker
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to:
- Lift up to 40 pounds
- Frequently bend, kneel, reach, and stand throughout the day
- Assist with the physical care of young children
- Supervise children outdoors daily in varying weather conditions (except during hazardous weather)
- Attend occasional evening school events

Selected candidates must successfully complete:
- Criminal Background Check
- TB Test
- CPR Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Required employment documentation
