What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish Teacher Assistant (Aftercare) - Part Time position at Communikids Preschool Llc?
Responsible for assisting the Teacher in facilitating daily curriculum activities for the children by performing the following duties:
- Greets children and parents/guardians in an enthusiastic manner each day.
- Interacts with children through instructional methods including play, music, arts and crafts, reading, writing, computer activities, and physical activities.
- Assists children as needed to enhance learning skills and help them complete assigned projects.
- Assists the Teacher in maintaining the classroom environment and implementing the educational curriculum.
- Remains aware of each child’s talents, special abilities, disabilities, deficiencies, or individual challenges.
- Promotes and fosters each child’s positive self‑esteem and individual development toward their fullest potential in the areas of physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
- Assists children with general hygiene practices, including bathroom needs and cleanliness.
- Assists in the planning and preparation of lesson plans.
- Shares pertinent information, suggestions, or ideas with co‑workers on a regular basis.
- Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with all children, staff, and parents/guardians.
Mental Demands
- Maintain emotional control under any and all circumstances as they relate to children, colleagues, and parents.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with children, colleagues, and parents.
- Ensure that communication with children, colleagues, and parents is friendly, professional, non‑confrontational, and respectful.

Physical Demands and Environmental Factors
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds several times per day.
- Frequent bending, lifting, and reaching.
- Required attendance at occasional evening events.
- Take children outside daily, except in cases of extreme weather conditions. Extreme weather includes: snowfall at a rate of one inch or more per hour; winds over 35 miles per hour; heavy rain; lightning or thunder; hail; sleet or freezing rain; icy conditions; code red air quality alerts; or other hazardous conditions as determined by center administration.
- Ability to perform tasks related to the physical care of children.
Education and Certification
- Must be at least 20 years of age and have completed high school and a CDA program, or the equivalent.
- Hold at least an associate’s degree in child development, early childhood education, early childhood special education, or child and family studies; or
- Hold an associate’s degree in a field other than child development, early childhood education, early childhood special education, or child and family studies and have earned nine (9) credits in early childhood education.
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Experience working with young children.
- Native or near‑native fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, or French.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills — must be able to work well with colleagues.
- Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds.
