Description

The Social Media Engagement Specialist engages audiences across social platforms to build authentic connections and strengthen brand loyalty. This role manages and schedules content for CSD’s primary accounts as well as individual brand programs, supports SEO/SEM efforts, and uses data to improve engagement. They monitor conversations, join threads, and contribute in ways that reflect CSD’s values — clarifying, sharing resources, and amplifying community perspectives. By implementing tools and workflows that enhance audience experiences, this role helps CSD nurture meaningful relationships and create greater impact for the communities we serve.

  • Manage, schedule, and publish content for CSD’s main social media accounts and support brand program accounts as needed.
  • Create, curate, and adapt content tailored to different platforms and audiences, ensuring accessibility standards (captions, alt text, ASL-accessible resources, plain language).
  • Monitor conversations across platforms; engage authentically by joining threads, responding to questions, and sharing resources to reflect community perspectives.
  • Plan and execute paid and organic social campaigns aligned with organizational goals and brand program initiatives.
  • Collaborate with staff across CSD to highlight services, community stories, and mission impact.
  • Track and analyze performance using KPIs; prepare reports highlighting successes, learnings, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, and best practices; recommend ways to keep CSD’s content engaging, relevant, and inclusive.
  • Support workflows that improve audience experience, such as social listening tools, reporting standards, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Knowledge of social media platforms, digital content creation, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, scheduling software, email campaign platforms).
  • Understanding of accessibility standards, including captioning, alt text, ASL-accessible content, and plain language.
  • Strong written and visual communication skills, adaptable for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to monitor and participate in online conversations authentically, fostering community engagement.
  • Analytical skills to track KPIs, interpret engagement data, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple accounts, campaigns, and content calendars simultaneously.
  • Collaborative mindset; able to work across programs and departments to highlight services, stories, and mission impact.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with an interest in exploring new ways to engage and grow online communities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in social media management, digital communications, or related roles, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Experience managing multiple social media accounts, content calendars, and campaigns.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, scheduling tools, analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics), and email campaign software (e.g., MailerLite, Mailchimp).
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards, including captioning, alt text, ASL-accessible content, and plain language.
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual communication skills.
  • Ability to monitor and participate in online conversations to foster community engagement and elevate community perspectives.
  • Collaborative mindset; ability to work across teams and programs to highlight services, stories, and mission impact.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (required)
