Responsibilities
- Install fire alarm systems by interpreting blueprints, schematics, and system design documents to ensure precise setup.
- Conduct thorough inspections of fire alarm panels, sensors, and low voltage wiring in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on fire alarm systems using hand tools, power tools, and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawings.
- Read and interpret schematics and electrical diagrams to diagnose system faults accurately.
- Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations by providing construction inspection services related to fire alarm integration.
- Test sensors, alarms, and control panels to verify proper operation; adjust or replace components as needed.
- Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and system documentation to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist in fire sprinkler fitting coordination when necessary, supporting integrated life safety solutions.
- Provide field service support by responding promptly to system alarms or service requests; communicate effectively with clients about system status and upgrades.
- Support sales efforts by demonstrating technical expertise in fire alarm sales or related product offerings when required.
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician specializing in fire alarm systems or low voltage electrical systems.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools for installation and repair tasks.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics, and CAD software for system design and troubleshooting purposes.
- Knowledge of construction processes including inspection procedures related to fire alarm integration within building projects.
- Understanding of NEC guidelines, electrical codes, sensors technology, and fire alarm system components such as control panels and annunciators.
- Experience working with fire sprinkler fitting or other life safety systems is a plus but not mandatory.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently in complex electrical or low voltage systems.
