Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, regulatory reporting, and financial analysis, with experience in various accounting software and systems. The Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial data and supporting strategic financial decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to monitor liquidity and financial health.
- Ensure compliance with SOX regulations, LIHTC requirements, and other relevant legal frameworks such as securities law and wills, trusts & estate law.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial management activities using software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements and audit preparations by providing accurate documentation and reports.
- Perform tax-related tasks including tax experience management and preparation of tax filings.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technical accounting standards including GAAP, accrual accounting, and public accounting practices.
- Mentor junior staff members in accounting procedures and best practices to foster professional development within the team.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial concepts.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Experience with financial report writing and interpretation to support management decision-making.
- Expertise in financial statement preparation, account analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance including SOX regulations and LIHTC programs.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform financial analysis and cash flow forecasting.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting standards as well as private equity or non-profit accounting is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in balance sheet reconciliation and audit support activities.
- Effective communication skills for reporting findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels. Pay: $59,598.84 - $71,774.95 per year
