What are the responsibilities and job description for the Permitting and Design Technician position at Communication Data Link?
Communication Data Link is seeking a Permitting and Design Technician to add to the department. This role will be responsible for an integral part of the initial stages of the job to assist our crews and team to ensure we are delivering high quality service to our customers and vendors. This position will be very independent and work closely with outside entities
Qualifications:
- Versed knowledge of construction methods, sequences, technology and other related fields.
- Drafting layouts for utility construction projects including route and structure planning.
- Read and interpret construction documents from multiple customers
- Knowledgeable about permit requirements for each surrounding city
- Submit and obtain all permits needed to facilitate cable installation
- Experience working with Vendors, Clients, Cities, and other entities to manage the permitting process.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Adaptable to meet changing business needs throughout the year
- Outgoing, confident and possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Computer Literacy – Intermediate MS office suite and experience with MicroStation system
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, sense of urgency, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-Motivated and committed to meeting team and individual goals.
- Strong follow up and tracking of multiple tasks
- Familiar with applicable codes, standards and best practices.

Work Schedule:
Monday- Friday 7am- 4:30pm
Most work will be in the office, with occasional field work to review job sites.
Strong focus on computer work
Work schedule is also determined by season, weather, deadlines, and availability of work.
