What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outreach Director position at COMMUNICARE MS?
The Director of Outreach is responsible for growing, shaping,and maintaining a Communicare’s reputation and brand. This includes identifying media opportunities, maintaining existing media relations, and promoting positive public awareness of the company and mental health through external communications.
Responsibilities:

Develop and implement outreach campaigns around the topics associated with mental health and substance abuse.

Collaborate with the administrative staff in order to ensure appropriate information is being distributed.

Prepare and distribute press releases

Write and record outreach radio ads
-
Organize outreach events within the communities we serve.

Organize outreach activities at state level conferences.

Seek outreach events throughout the region to ensure knowledge of the services we provide as well as reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and substance abuse.

Create outreach material to be printed and distributed, including using graphic design software.

Maintain outreach item inventory and ensure that all offices within the region have access to inventory

Maintain all social media platforms ensuring relevant, daily content is published

Maintain and grow relationships with other media outlets throughout the region to ensure news coverage at events, both prints and other events.

Develop and maintain positive business relationships with other agencies throughout the region.

Train organizations about mental health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention using evidenced based training curriculum.

Maintain training calendar for all outside outreach training.

Ensure that training packets are created, ensuring appropriate outreach items are included in all packets.

Creating and maintaining an internal employee newsletter highlighting specific programs throughout the agency.

Creating and distributing external newsletter through a newsletter program such as MailChimp- this will include maintaining an accurate email contact list

Ensure collection of letters of support from key stakeholders throughout the community when administration prepares a new grant application

Ensuring web content is accurate/relevant, and working with web designers to ensure the website is working appropriately.

Creation of monthly blog posts to help bring awareness of programs that are offered by Communicare and to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and substance abuse.

Extensive travel throughout the region will be necessary with some travel throughout the state

Help ensure all federal data associated with training is collected and reported appropriately.

Be the main contact for NSPR until the contract expires

Be able to adjust to cultrual norms based on the audience to whom you are presenting.
Qualifications:

Minimum bachelor's in journalism, public health, graphic design, or something similar.

Preferred master's in public health, public relations, marketing, or journalism.

Understanding of mental illness and substance abuse
-
Ability use multiple social media platforms

Experience or comfort with public speaking
-
Reliable transportation
-
Pass a Communicare background check and drug screen
