DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will oversee staff who provide guidance, instruction, treatment, and specialized services to youth adjudicated by the court in a secure or restricted environment. Your responsibilities will include delegating tasks to team members and ensuring that reports are completed promptly. You will collaborate with staff to manage the physical care, custody, and supervision of the youths' daily activities, which encompass recreation, housekeeping, personal hygiene, work assignments, and program requirements. Additionally, you will assist professional staff in executing treatment plans and tracking the youths' progress toward their goals. Engaging with the youth to discuss their thoughts, actions, and personal challenges will be essential in fostering responsible behaviors and attitudes. Maintaining order will require you to intervene verbally and physically with disruptive or emotionally distressed youth, employing appropriate restraint techniques when necessary to prevent escapes, manage aggression, and uphold a safe environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 5-day work week

Hours of work: Shift work in a 24/7/365 operation, holidays and weekends, 8-hour shifts, with 2 set days off, with no duty-free lunch
- 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
- 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Travel and overtime as required
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $61,862 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
- One year of experience as a Juvenile Justice Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of experience in the care, custody, activities, or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement or correctional program, or an educational, community, or military organization; or
- One year of experience in the care, custody, activities, or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement or correctional program, or an educational, community, or military organization; and an associate’s degree in social sciences, counseling, restorative justice, juvenile justice, child development, behavioral sciences, human services, criminal justice, education, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- You must be at least 21 years old at the time of application.
Other Requirements:
- You must be willing to accept employment at North East Secure Treatment Unit and commute to this location in Pittston, PA, Luzerne County.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
