DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for conducting technical inspections of materials and workmanship on road and bridge construction projects. These projects may involve activities such as roadway overlays, widening, stabilization, earthwork, guide rail installation, and drainage. Your expertise will be crucial in interpreting contract requirements by analyzing specifications and drawings, as well as employing various testing and inspection methods. It is vital to exercise independent judgment for on-site technical decisions while collaborating with contractors and other personnel across all six counties in District 5.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
• Overtime and travel as needed
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, ad-hoc basis upon successful completion of the probationary and training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Allentown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. • Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
• Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
• One year as an Engineering Technician(Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1(Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

• This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
