The Semi-Skilled Laborer supports many maintenance and groundskeeping needs across Norristown State Hospital. This role involves physical tasks, teamwork, and a willingness to assist multiple shops and departments as needed. As a Semi-Skilled Laborer, you will perform the following duties:

• General Maintenance: Carry out assigned tasks in areas such as plumbing, painting, electrical work, and carpentry
• Road and Walk Repair: Perform roadwork including fixing blacktop, sidewalks, parking lots, curbing, and gutters
• Grounds Care: Operate grass-cutting equipment, rake leaves, remove trash, and assist with landscaping tasks
• Snow Removal: Shovel snow from walkways, fire exits, and parking areas during winter weather
• Equipment Support: Help maintain laundry equipment, replace light bulbs, and assist skilled trades in repair work
• Site Cleaning: Clean piping systems, machinery rooms, sewer areas, and other work sites around the facility

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may changed based on operational need.
• Overtime and travel as operationally necessary
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
