DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role focuses on delivering nursing care, supporting treatment plans, and responding to medical needs within a correctional setting. You will help maintain patient safety, provide hands-on care, and support clinical operations throughout the facility.
As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties:
- Nursing Care: Administer medications, perform treatments, and support daily living needs for patients
- Clinical Support: Assist clinicians with examinations, testing, screenings, and immunizations
- Emergency Response: Provide first aid, CPR, AED assistance, and refer patients for advanced care when needed
- Record Management: Document medical information, prepare reports, and maintain electronic health records
- Infection Control: Follow procedures to ensure safe practices and prevent the spread of illness
- Skill Development: Participate in training sessions and maintain knowledge of facility policies
Work Hours and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
- The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM); 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM); and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM)
- Available shifts include:
- 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM)
- Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $89,882.00 (before taxes)

QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Special Requirements:
- This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
