The Department of Corrections is looking for a highly motivated person with great attention to detail to join our team as an Institutional Parole Assistant.  If you meet the experience requirements and are looking to join a fast-paced public service agency, the Department of Corrections wants to hear from you!  

Senate Bill 411 merged the Department of Corrections and the Pennsylvania Parole Board. This position is within the Department of Corrections. 


As an Institutional Parole Assistant, you will provide clerical and technical assistance within the institutional parole office.  You will be responsible for controlling inmates in the parole release process; ensuring that they are released in accordance with laws governing release of offenders and PA Parole Board policy.  You will be interviewing inmates to determine their home plan needs, monitoring results of drug screening, results of home plan investigations, status changes, results of CCC referrals, Crime victim Act payments, and monitoring for misconducts or infractions prior to release.  You will be preparing Release Orders, letters, memos and end of month status reports and running Criminal Histories (RAP sheets) for any needed cases on the monthly docket.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (40 hours per week).
  • Work Hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. 
  • Salary:  In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.  
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.

QUALIFICATIONS
 Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
