DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Fiscal Technician, you will serve as the Back-up Coordinator for the agency's purchasing card program by maintaining accounts, providing training and guidance, and reviewing cardholder usage for compliance with Commonwealth policies. In addition, you will review and enter coding for cardholder expenditures and process financial adjustments as necessary.

Another primary duty entails reviewing invoices and supporting documentation to process payments while working with vendors, end users, and the comptroller to resolve discrepancies. Working with other members of the fiscal team, you will ensure that expenditures are coded correctly and that the agency's bills are paid.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • In the event of an emergency/disaster situation or training exercise, this position may be required to travel, work up to 12-hour shifts, and work outside of the normal work hours, including weekends and overnights.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.   • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fiscal Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices; and graduation from high school; or
  • One year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records and an Associate degree in accounting or business administration; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
