The Fiscal Technician position with Northumberland County Child Welfare Services offers a meaningful way to support children and families. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports complex accounting functions by maintaining records, preparing reports, and assisting with financial procedures. It helps ensure accurate bookkeeping and compliance with state and county requirements. As a Fiscal Technician, you will perform the following duties:

  • Ledger Management: Maintain ledgers and journals to meet accounting standards and regulations
  • Data Tracking: Maintain subsidiary ledgers, databases, and files for quarterly reports
  • Expense Preparation: Prepare weekly expense vouchers and assist with payment processing
  • Report Assistance: Support preparation of quarterly Title IV-E and TANF reports
  • Account Reconciliation: Assist with quarterly reconciliation between agency and county records
  • Cost Allocation: Determine proper posting of payrolls to correct cost centers

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fiscal Assistant; or
  • Three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices; and graduation from high school; or
  • One year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records and an associate degree in accounting or business administration; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
