DESCRIPTION OF WORK


As an intern in the Bureau of Bridge, you will engage in practical tasks related to the design and analysis of bridges across Pennsylvania. Your responsibilities will include updating and maintaining bridge data in departmental databases, digitizing records, assisting with parametric studies, reviewing design standards and guidelines, and participating in field visits. This role offers a valuable opportunity to enhance your technical skills, apply theoretical knowledge to tangible projects, and collaborate with dedicated engineering professionals committed to innovation and excellence.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time internship that will run from May 2026 through August 2026
  • Work hours will vary based on position
  • Compensation is credit based:
  • Less than 90 credits - $21.23
  • Over 90 credits - $22.13
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY


QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled or intending to enroll FULL-TIME or PART-TIME in a two-year degree, bachelors' degree, or advance program for the fall semester.

  • Acceptable major Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

  • Must be a Pennsylvania resident or currently enrolled at a Pennsylvania college or university.
  • In good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
