DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports roadway maintenance operations by assisting with data review, field inspections, and materials management throughout the county maintenance organization. As a Roadway Programs Technician 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Data Review: Examine reports, inventory records, contract entries, and system data to support accurate roadway and materials management
- Field Inspection: Inspect roadside areas, accident sites, material stockpiles, and winter operations to identify issues and verify conditions
- Materials Management: Help track, receive, store, and issue roadway materials and assist with salt management planning and analysis
- Program Support: Assist with planning, monitoring, and documenting maintenance activities that support year round roadway operations
- Communication Tasks: Work with staff, contractors, and partner agencies to gather information, report findings, and support maintenance decisions
- Record Keeping: Update spreadsheets, logs, and information systems to maintain accurate and complete program records

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Overtime and shift work required
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Technical Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent; or
- An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program.; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
