The Department of Human Services is seeking a Quality Assurance/Risk Management Specialist to join our Clarks Summit State Hospital patient care services team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality public service and ensuring consistent, effective care for patients. Responsibilities include maintaining a thorough understanding of regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as evaluating compliance with those requirements. You will collect and analyze data related to patient abuse, patient rights grievances, hospital practices and procedures, and trends in patient care. In addition, you will support the hospital’s performance improvement efforts by conducting investigations, participating in committees, and collaborating with department leaders to gather and share data. You will also respond to data-related requests from senior management and assess available organizational data to help hospital leadership better protect and promote patient rights.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel: As needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of professional experience as a member of a multiple disciplinary treatment team in a public or private health care facility and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Two years of clinical experience in an human services agency, including one year of administrative, evaluative, or consultative experience in a health care program; and a bachelor's degree with major course work in social work, nursing, health care administration, behavioral sciences or a related field; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
