THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is excited to welcome a motivated and reliable Motor Vehicle Program Inspector to oversee a large multi-county area within the Commonwealth. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Detailed reports are submitted at the completion of each audit, summarizing the findings of the investigation to include sticker usage, reports on anomalies, audit data, and to report any missing stickers. Within this role, you may be required to appear at departmental hearings or in a court of law to provide testimony regarding inspection violations of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, regulations, and department procedures. It is essential to cultivate effective working relationships with inspection stations, vehicle safety inspectors, law enforcement, schools, industry partners, legislative offices, and public and private organizations and individuals affected by the vehicle safety inspection process.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is headquartered at 1052 S. Church Street, Hazleton, Pennsylvania 18201.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
- Two years of experience in an automotive repair related field such as: service writer/advisor; technical manual writer; automotive tool and equipment salesman/serviceman; auto mechanic; or auto shop foreman and a high school diploma; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a Pennsylvania Safety Mechanics Certification within 90 days of the date of employment.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a Class C non-commercial driver's license.
- This position is assigned to Montour, Northumberland, Monroe, Pike, Wayne, and Sullivan Counties. The selected candidate must reside in one of the assigned counties or surrounding counties or be willing to relocate to this area.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
