What are the responsibilities and job description for the Highway Foreman 2 position at Commonwealth of PA?
The Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is looking for a hard-working, motivated and skilled Highway Foreman to manage construction, maintenance and repair operations in the Philadelphia County Maintenance Organization. If you possess the supervisory and highway maintenance experience, this may be the job for you!
The Highway Foreman 2 provides direct in-field supervision to the general highway maintenance crew who performs manual labor and operates heavy equipment for routine maintenance and repair operations, including winter maintenance activities, on or around assigned highways.
The ideal person for this position will act as supervisor and plan and lay out projects for highway maintenance crews who engage in maintenance and repair projects, including constructing, repairing and maintaining highways, guide rails, shoulders, streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, patching potholes, grading and hot topping streets, cutting brush, repairing and installing street signs, plowing snow, sanding streets, and performing manual and skilled labor in other related duties.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Lunch period: 30 minutes
Work hours are subject to change during the summer and winter seasons. May require some overtime and travel.
- One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 employed by The Commonwealth of PA; or
- Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
