THE POSITION
The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking a hardworking, outdoor-driven Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 to help build, maintain, and enhance Pennsylvania’s game lands and wildlife habitats. In this role, you will operate heavy equipment, construct and repair infrastructure, manage habitat improvement projects, assist with prescribed fires, and work across forests, fields, and rugged terrain to support healthy ecosystems and public access. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
A Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 performs a wide range of semi-skilled duties that support the maintenance, repair, and construction of game land infrastructure, including bridges, roads, parking areas, gates, signs, and public shooting ranges. This position also assists with mowing operations, habitat management projects, and other essential field tasks that help maintain safe, accessible, and wildlife-friendly environments. Employees in this role work closely with field staff to ensure game lands remain in excellent condition for both wildlife and the public. This is a hands-on, outdoor-focused position ideal for individuals who value meaningful work that supports conservation and recreation across Pennsylvania.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. AWS (alternate work schedule) may be available.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
- One year of laboring experience using construction tools and equipment; or
- One year of farming experience using agricultural tools and equipment; or
- One year of construction equipment operation experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
- This position requires the selected candidate to obtain an active Class A Commercial Driver’s License within one year of employment in this job.
